I have been feeling very overwhelmed these days. Either I am staring into space or just indulging in my favourite subject: What if’s. Oh -how I wish some days I could switch off my mind. Trying my best not to get to the “dark” zone I am putting together all the things that never fails to put a smile on my face even if it’s for 20 minutes. I hope this helps you too —if you are feeling along the same lines.
Ben&Jerry’s Chocolate Ice Cream
What can I say —I am a big foodie. I think about food pretty much all the time. Chocolate ice cream is the way to go when feeling down. The rich, delicate and the explosion of flavour in your mouth is bound to make you think about all the good things. Close your eyes and take a mouthful.
Sports in general really gives me a kick. But cricket is sentimental since I grew up watching it. We Bengalis love our cricket —it’s like watching football in England. A full family festival. Sitting around the sofa, crossed leg with all the food you can nibble on, commenting as if you know more than the person playing the game “score a bloody six man” “not good enough” on and on it goes. The whole drama of it always reminds me I am still here surrounded by my loved ones.
Since I moved to my new house, we have been blessed with beautiful views. Every day I can see the sunset through my upstairs window. It is pure beauty. The fact that autumn is around the corner —it really puts me in a good mood. The scattered autumn leaves outside turns the whole thing into a work of art. Take a moment. See the leaves changing colours. Different patterns in the sky. Late afternoon sunshine. Drizzles of rain. All of it is wonderful. Makes you want to live. See it through another day. Must be something out there waiting for you —it doesn’t always have to be bad.
There’s always reading. Although, currently I am finding it hard to concentrate. But fiction is always my way to escape.
On a final note, I hope you can take away something from this. Do share what you do to make yourself feel happy —I would love to try it out. The world is in a weird place right now —hug your loved ones a bit tighter, check on your friends, show empathy, be kind. A virtual hug to you all.
Thanks, so much for reading xoxo
